BritBox is trying to differentiate itself in Australia’s crowded streaming market by positioning itself as a specialized platform catering to a niche audience. When you sign up for BritBox, you’ll have access to the service for seven days at no cost. You have the option to cancel at any time before the 7-day trial period ends if you are unhappy with the service.
You’ll be charged AU$8.99 on the first of every month unless you cancel. In contrast to the United States and Canada, where a BritBox subscription allows for five simultaneous streams, Australia’s only pricing tier only allows for one. Keep in mind that the majority of content is only available in 1080p resolution, so 4K support is currently limited.
The annual plan costs AU$89.99, which is a savings of AU$17.89 per month compared to paying monthly. In other words, for a 12-month subscription, you’re essentially paying for only 10.
Gift subscriptions are also available(opens in new tab) for the same yearly rate of AU$89.99. However, these subscriptions are only valid for one year.
There is value here in comparison to the larger streaming services because BritBox is one of the few that still offers a free trial and you get multiple streams for not a lot of money. However, you should be a die-hard fan of British television if you want to get the most out of BritBox.
THE CONTENT OF THE BRITBOX
BritBox is a digital hub for British television that features both original series and classic series from the BBC and ITV, two of the country’s most prominent networks. It’s no secret that Netflix is one of the most popular streaming services on the web, and that the number of people who use the service is only expected to grow.
Since its inception, BritBox has relied heavily on its archive of classic shows like Gavin & Stacey, Miss Marple, Fawlty Towers, The Office, Black Adder, and Red Dwarf to draw in viewers. Are you ready to take things seriously? BritBox features the complete first run of the Sherlock Holmes television series. REVIEW OF THE BRITBOX’S COMPATIBILITY WITH DEVICES
Since its inception, BritBox has also made great strides in this regard. At one time, the app was only available on a small number of smart TVs (Android TV was one of them), but now it’s available on just about every major brand of smart TV on the market.
Apple TV, Fetch, Fire TV Sticks, Roku devices, Telstra, and even Google Chromecasts are all supported if you still can’t find it on your TV. Keep in mind that some of these gadgets require the BritBox app, which can be found in the Apps menu.
You can cast using AirPlay or Chromecast, but in our early testing, we found that this feature was inconsistent. While connecting to our test Android TV with built-in Chromecast has never been a problem, we did find that starting the next episode after the previous one ended was surprisingly difficult. Neither closing the app nor disabling casting helped, and we had to restart the TV frequently. As of December 2021, this is a problem that has been bothering us for quite some time.
